Want to enhance your experience at Shabbat services? Did you miss out on becoming a Adath’s Bar/Bat Torah program’s goal is to make you more knowledgeable, and in the process, more comfortable participating in Shabbat prayer and Jewish activities in general.

Part One: Biblical (Siddur) Hebrew 1.0

6:30-7:30 pm via Zoom

Requirement: The ability to read (i.e. decode) Hebrew.

The goal of this part of the program is to enable you to read, understand, and participate in Hebrew prayer. People who currently are not able to read Hebrew should contact Lon as soon as possible for materials to help you get ready. ( Our textbook will be The First Hebrew Primer 3rd edition.

Part Two: “Finding Your Way into Shabbat Prayer.”

7:30-8:30 pm via Zoom

Requirement: Attending at least one (Zoom) service a week.

Here we’ll explore the services in general, have a ‘discussion group’ on the prayers, learn where the prayers came from, and talk about how poetry that is over 2000 years old can still be meaningful today. We’ll also explore the holidays, how the Sefer Torah and T’fillin are made, and home rituals.

Cost: $72/full program (Hebrew & Prayer together) or $48/Hebrew or Prayer individually
